The 1960s Furniture Style
Call it an obsession of Mad Men, or a result of my parents being from the 60s era, but I have grown an affinity to 1960’s Furniture style.
The 60s was an innovative period, not just in terms of the world where we saw the younger generation in the period starting to rebel against long standing traditions in society. We saw this rebellion in all forms, including Andy Warhol’s famous artworks, the Beatles becoming popular in the US redefining music, and also Neil Armstrong being the first man to walk on the moon.
These attitudes also translated to the furniture in everyone’s household with colour palettes being inspired by the Hippie Era, nature inspired greens, golds, yellow and orange. Styles were mixing the clean lines of Scandinavian contemporary pieces with the newer materials metal, glass, wood and PVC.
We will soon be launching some products that are inspired from this era. Until then, here are some great photos showing insight into the era.

All Things Pink
Looking a little gloomy here at Stools & Chairs HQ on this Monday Morning and thought I’d share with you some great and pink themed decor’s around the house. Enjoy everybody and have a great week!
Beautiful Kitchens
There has been a great deal of interest in our Provincial Bar Stools, so I went searching the internet for some great examples of bar stools but came across these beautiful gems I had to share.
Firstly we have a beautiful example of a kitchen/dining/living space that gives that organised chaos feel. Loving the mismatched Hans Wegner Wishbone Chairs and Eames DCW Sidechair on the other side.
I also found this neutral coloured rustic kitchen. Green and mint on a white base, with the understated Bentwood Chairs.
Lastly we have a very owner with an open kitchen. Mixing warm wood elements and contrasting simplicity. You see the Arne Jacobsen Series 7 chair in the foreground on the left there – soon to be featured on Stools & Chairs Website.
SNEAK PEEK!
Stools & Chairs help fitout Zen Garage
Last Friday, I made a small delivery to our friends at Zen Garage. They rang me up and asked if we had any stools suitable for their space. I immediately thought of our Black Tolix Stools which would complement their black and white theme going throughout their garage. Needless to say they were stoked with the result, and why wouldn’t they?!
Check out the shots below!
Mismatched Textures
We stumbled upon this photo on the weekend showing mismatched textures all throughout the room but working seamlessly together to create a calm and beautiful dining area. The soft linens on the table are warmly complemented by the Danish designed Wishbone Chairs. The Wishbone Chair – which have a Chinese inspired design – combine with the browns of the wicker basket and lighting. Just divine! Get the look – click the image!

Black on Black Take 2
We hoped everyone enjoyed their long weekend Easter Break over the weekend. We here at Stools & Chairs got some time to unwind and enjoy the simple things in life. Coffee. We were in Melbourne over the weekend and whilst relaxing over the popular cafe’s in their fine city, we found ourselves at My Other Brother, on Burke Rd in Camberwell. We immediately noticed the beautiful black on black theme they had against the hardwood floors. Below are some pics of our Black Replica Bentwood Chairs being used with the famous Black Tolix Stools. We hope you enjoy the photos as much as we did their coffees!
